In 1985 BAS Ltd., Parent company of Heritage Upholstery & Trim invested in the machinery and milling plant to manufacture classic auto carpet in house. A full range of products were developed from Wilton wool to Karvel. We are now England's largest manufacturer of Classic Auto carpet primarily for use in the restoration of British Sport Cars, past and present. We are pleased to be the chosen OEM carpet supplier to both Lotus Cars UK for their new Elise model and by Morgan Cars UK for the new Aero 8 model.

Heritage Carpet

100% hard wearing low sheen polypropylene. An exact copy of our Wilton Wool made on the same milling machine. Rubber backed for long life. Available in Red, Black, Dark Blue and Dark Tan only.

Wilton Wool Carpet

100% pure wool, high pile, low sheen, yarn dyed for rich color that lasts. Rubber backed for long life. Wilton wool carpet is the ultimate in luxury for any classic sport car. Available in 13 colors.

Classic Carpet

100% hard wearing polypropylene deep pile tufted carpet has the look of factory original MGB/TR6 carpet. Rubber backed for long life available in 10 colors.

KarvelTM (Jute Backed) Carpet

Karvel is historically the correct factory original carpet for many post war British Cars. Pre-war Karvel contained small amounts of hogs hair and wool, but in the 1950's this was replaced with the harder wearing synthetic blend of rayon/viscose/nylon. The original backing was rubber dipped with jute/hessian backing. Karvel has a very distinctive corrugated pile sometimes referred to as "corn rows" that give it a distinctive lush pile. The pile height however varied depending on the auto manufacturer's specification and the fact that auto carpet making in post war Britain was not a science. No two milling runs were the same! Some original Karvel that has survived on original unrestored British Sports Cars appears to have a whitish fleck in the pile. This is entirely due to the fact that the aging of Karvel and exposure to sunlight had faded the original dye color from some of the fibers. Original Karvel was a uniformed non-flecked color.

Karvel Carpet History

Originally manufactured by John Crossley & Sons, Halifax, England. Karvel was widely used in many British Cars, A.C., Austin Healey, Jowet, Morris, Triumph (pre TR4), MG (T-Series) to name but a few. The original manufacturer stopped producing Karvel in the late 1960's. BAS Ltd. UK parent company of Heritage Upholstery & Trim was very proud to reintroduce reproduction Karvel in 1996. Karvel carpet is a registered Trade Mark and exclusive offering of Heritage Upholstery & Trim.

Leather

We are proud to supply English Connolly auto hides, as original, for most British cars from Austin Healey to Rolls Royce. Our hides do not have that shiny look common with cheaper hides. We still hand select our hides for grain and color match and all leather is hand cut and sewn for results that will continue to look great for many years. (Leathercare cleaner and conditioner products are available and recommended, please see our product guide).

Vinyl/Vynide/Leathercloth

We use only genuine English Vynide in our products. Non stretch cloth backed vinyl with the correct English grain. Panels trimmed in original English Vynide have crisp good looking lines, not possible with non original vinyl that give that chubby/naugahyde look.

Ambla

English Expandable vinyl has the same face grain as vinyl but has a knit back to give and stretch as needed for specific uses.

Natural Jute Underfelt

We are proud to be the only Company in the USA that can supply English Natural Jute underfelt. It has the correct thin black bitumen coating on its face and has unrivalled soundproofing and road noise reducing abilities. Used on most British Classic cars, Austin Healey, Jaguar, Rolls Royce. Also ask us about our deluxe sound proofing kits.

Top face is PVC coated with ribbed embossing as original. Backed in jute felt. Available in 10 colors.

Crushed Grain Vinyl

A USA made product with grain style, not as original. Ideal for anyone with "price" consideration. Available in 6 colors.

English Everflex Vinyl

Made in England, this hardwearing material has a grain that is exactly as original. The inner lining is grey or light tan cotton. English Everflex is the best quality vinyl material for convertible top, tonneau cover and boot cover application. How good? Rolls Royce have used this product for 35 years.

Sunfast/Stay fast/Mohair Cloth

This modern convertible top replacement material has an acrylic topping that resists fading and shrinking. Sunfast is the number one choice of many "show car" owners. Modern sunfast gives your classic a very tailored rich look.
